Where the Light Is Not

Psalm 133; 1 John 1:1-5

We stand in the dark,
even when the light is shining brightly,
and pray for vision,
and dream of sight,
and hope for just a glimpse
of that for which we seek:
the light of resurrection,
the light of our Risen Lord,
the light that heals
and makes all things known
and shows us our way
in the dark
in which we seem to exist.
Many seekers
seek this light in places where
another light shines
and wonder why
we are not finding our way.
Sometimes we seek
in places where the light
does not, will not, can not,
shine,
but it is not the light’s fault
we are looking where it is not.
But that does not mean it is not shining.
It just means we have forgotten where to look—
and that is usually in the most obvious place…
