1 Kings 8:22-30

The One who fills the cosmos
lives in our own home.
The One whom the cosmos cannot contain,
eats with us at our tables,
drinks with us at our counters,
speaks to us
in our hearts and minds,
and sings with us in our songs.
And who are we that this should be?
And who are we that God is at home with us?
And who ARE we, anyway?
We are the ones God calls “beloved,”
It may take eternity
for us to get used to the idea
that we are loved just as we are.
We are Loved because of how we are,
and God doesn’t just take us as we are,
God made us as we are,
and God is patient and will wait
for us to be at ease with God.
It seems, that while we may be uncomfortable
with thinking of ourselves as, “beloved” of God,
God is quite comfortable
with the notion of being Lover.
